RARE LATE 19TH to EARLY 20TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ART & CRAFTS ERA ANTIQUE PIPE TOBACCO ADVERTISING, LARGE CARVED, TWO-TONE STAINED in DARK WALNUT & BURNT SIENNA, 12 LONG OAK WOODEN PIPE SCULPTURAL, THREE- DIMENSIONAL STORE SIGNAGE & PHYSICAL MERCANTILE DISPLAY. Early 20th century Ame ri can antique tobacciana & carved wood sculptural advertising signage & store mercantile displays. 12" Length x 3 3/4" Height x 3 1/2 Depth.

Recently discovered on the eastern coastline of New Hampshire, is this absolutely wonderful, late 19th to early 20th century Ame ri can antique large, carved and stained oak, wood pipe smoking tobacco, three-dimensional, sculptural advertising signage, that would've been displayed on a stand, store window or up on a shelf. It didn't have previous holes or marks from being hung by screw eyes and chain wire. It's done in two-tone coloring, with a deep walnut or sepia brown bowl, as well as over half the shaft, where the carved wood is then wonderfully chamfered into the near flat of the mouth grip, with a fluted end, made for teeth to grasp the pipe with. The bowl has three incised rings that traverse its exterior sidewalls. There's a carved out hole at the bottom of the bowl and at the end of the shaft, ostensibly to make the pipe lifelike and functionable. The end of the shaft, where it tapers from a squared, diagonal form into the nearly flat, elliptical form of the shaft's end, is stained with a lighter burnt sienna color.

There are only a few minor scuffs and abrasions. Very scarce and a great piece of early Ame ri can tobacciana and pipe tobacco advertising. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Tobacciana\Signs".
