Antique CIVIL WAR era OFFICER Carved Hand BURL & GUTTA PERCHA Smoking Pipe. A wonderful Civil War era smoking pipe with ornate GUTTA PERCHA stem. The shank and bowl are carved from a single piece of burl wood, and feature a detailed carving of a hand and wrist supporting the tobacco bowl. Unmarked, as best I can tell, but an exceptional pipe, certainly worthy of further research. The gutta percha is in excellent condition, with no damage.

The wood carving is stable, but has various cracks, as shown. Again, there are no repairs. Guaranteed to be antique, circa 1800's, and not a reproduction!
