Wonderful & rare 19th century antique Black Forest hand carved 10 3/4 desk top inkstand, a large detailed dog inkwell perched on a hollowed log pen or implement tray! He must be a King Charles Spaniel, wouldn't you say? Long haired little pup with fabulous detail to the flowing ears & facial characteristics.
His two front paws are curved over the top of the log as if he's playfully peeking over, mouth open. We've had a few of these old inkwells carved to look like the head & paws but this is surely the largest and most unique with the wide hollowed log! A wonderful decorative accent, perfect for the collector whether it's the canine, inkwell or Black Forest hunt aspects that appeal to you! No chips or repairs that I can see, there is just a tiny hole at the crown of the dog's head but that's just due to the inner hollowing and not a break.
No inner ink pot but those aren't too difficult to find. We're easy to deal with. Our fine inventory is very important. And your ranking of our performance is also very important! We wish to keep our 4.9 - 5 star ratings in all categories.
We always insure our items BUT, more importantly, pack them extremely well knowing that most are not replacable. Please remember that when leaving DSR ratings.
